Love House Kids Program

Thanks to Kelly for offering her service again and every year to make beautiful Easter Baskets for us. We give the money and she pours her heart and soul into these. Everything is carefully picked and thought out.  Some of our kids have never had a basket EVER! Below is just from one group home’s kids. We always try to remember that Teens are kids too and we go out of our way to include them.

We can’t show pictures of our CPS kids and it is next to impossible to share a thank you card. People are all over the Valley and some like Joe and Linda moved to Chino Valley and then I have Uncle Ray and Aunt Lizzy  in Canada that contributes too,so with the cooperation of a house manager of one home and a Program co-coordinator of several homes, we are having the kids email. The kids don’t have access to the internet without the staff right there and emailing is an exception to the rule. In the past we have had people pour all their generosity into a Kids Christmas Wish list, or something along those lines and they never get to know if the kids appreciate it and it’s just not enough for me to tell everyone how much these kids really appreciate it so hopefully these emails will be a bit more rewarding for the remarkable, amazing people that all our supporters are.

I wanted to let you know how much our girls loved the Easter Baskets.  They were so excited and happy!  They got to wake up and have their Easter baskets and then we did an Easter Egg hunt with them.  Here is a list of the personal thank you from the girls:

Soyla (age 12): Thank you for my Easter Basket.  I love the candy!

Kaylyne (age 17): Thank you very much.  It was nice to have a real Easter.

Jackie (age 13): Thank you very much for the Easter Basket.  I had a lot of fun.

Kristin (age 13):  Thank you very much for your thoughtfulness and everything that you gave us.

Lindsey (age 17): I really appreciate the Easter Basket and I love you guys for thinking and caring about us.  (This one made me tear up!  She is our newest girl and has just entered into CPS care for the first time.)

Sierra (age 15): Thank you.  I like the cup a lot.

Imani (age 17): I absolutely love my Easter Basket. It was amazing and I am extremely grateful.

Isabel (age 13): I loved the basket!  It was the best!

Ami (age 18): Thank you and I really appreciate you getting the cups for us.

Lori (age 17): Thank you so much.  I appreciate that you took the time to give us Easter Baskets.

The Love House Kids Program is involved with kids in crisis and so smooth sailing doesn’t happen. Before you get up in the morning, your day timer could have already changed and the only way you can run with that is when you have people involved that care especially when you also have another job that you need to do.  It takes a lot of time and a truck load of patience. We decided to revamp our web site recently. Needed it and just one of those things where you run out of daylight before you get to it. Carol who is my webmaster has put in so many free hours over what she contracted for and been so patient with me. After all of this time getting to revamping it, I keep coming up with more stuff. A big Thank You to Georgia Di Pirro for introducing us and using her target marketing talent to enhance our site too. Joel McLaughlin from Data Flurry has given us ideas on keyword, signatures article and going to give us free time to blast out our site.

With all of this going on and the kids still doing what they do, Joyce Kirpatrick on our board and my right hand just keeps organizing the events, I get it on the calendar,sell the tickets or sponsorship  and she puts it together. She just takes over at the event and I’m like a little robot. I’m left to do what I need to do and do best and anyone in this arena knows what a blessing that is. Joyce has been involved and invested from day one. She has watched us change directions back and forth, refine things we are doing and come off the wall with something new and Always been there to help and affirm and let me bounce ideas off her. Recently we have been blessed with a new player, Ginger Edwards (aka the cup cake lady) She makes the best cup cakes and brings them to all our events as one thing but she has hands on with mentoring one of the girls and I mean she is all over it. This 16 year old girl hasn’t known this kind of caring and support her whole life and she just looks at me if I have her on an appointment or spending time with her and says “I miss Ginger” I have known this girl awhile and trust is not there for her but it sure is when it comes to her new found relationship. If Ginger is not with this gal, she’s down at the Girl’s Place helping out another one of our young ladies with her medical assistant course. Both of these ladies work at other careers as well and yet they just keep giving.

Happy 4^th of July!

As we celebrate the country’s independence, I think of the independence we are trying to instill in our girls at the Girl’s Place but not just independence, healthy

life styles with new coping skills and break the dependency on the social services system.

We can help them separate themselves from what they knew as a family and sever themselves from what they knew as home. Given the right tools, the right people in their

life, they will be able to be responsible caring parents when their time comes. Breaking the cycle of child abuse is critical and we believe this is the way to do it.

Recently Mary Beth who owns MBYork- makeup artist and former model offered to do the girl’s makeup and help them focus on the good stuff. 9 Teenage Girls attended. We served lunch and they were able to interact with Mary Beth and Jenna who did their makeup. These ladies are very busy people but they wanted to do this for our teens. Mary Beth brought Ellie her 7 year old daughter who is already training to do makeup but most importantly she is training her with her own example, to give back, to share and care. Recently Joyce and I attended a play that she participated in. She is a delightful little girl.

We are looking for a couple of mentors for our girls at the Girls Place. It takes time, patience and commitment. Both of our girls that we have right now are in college working on Medical Assistant and wanting to advance to RN. Someone with that background would be most helpful. However the most important is someone that has the time and commitment. We will gladly pay for your finger print card if you don’t have one. The kids that have the mentors are thriving, the ones that do not are struggling.

The annual fund raiser in September is coming at us very fast. We need dinner sponsors and people to sell tickets. The dinner sponsorship costs 300 dollars and we need 9 of them. We currently have 3 signed up. Remember we are a 501 C (3) and can give tax deductible receipts. Tickets are 35.00 per person, includes dinner, fantastic entertainment, silent auction and raffle prizes. We so need help with selling tickets this year. It will be held at Desert Ridge at Dave and Busters. It is a great time and a terrific cause. Remember we don’t take a penny in wages. The money goes to the kids. If we can get the dinner covered with sponsors, the entire ticket price goes to our kids.
